Tma není is a small private facility with a single dark retreat room in Čeperka, between Hradec Králové and Pardubice. The room is in a separate brick farm building next to the owner’s house on the edge of the village, surrounded by forest. The owner originally built it for himself and stayed in it himself.
The space is carefully crafted: wooden panelling, wall bars for exercise, a raised meditation area and a private shower with toilet. The guest turns off the light themselves and can switch it on at any time. The food is home-made and meat-free. A stay can be booked for as little as one day, so the place also suits those who want to try the dark first; the website is written in an unusually poetic style, from the point of view of the darkness itself. It is easily reached by train; from Čeperka station it is about 600 m along the edge of the forest.
