Dotmy.sk offers dark retreats at a homestead in the forest in the Ľubovnianska vrchovina highlands near Stará Ľubovňa in north-eastern Slovakia; the website does not give the exact village. It is a quiet place away from noise and without mobile signal, best reached by car (in winter the access road may be difficult for an ordinary car), or they can pick you up in Stará Ľubovňa. For the dark retreat there are two identically furnished, spacious rooms, Slnko and Mesiac, each with its own bathroom; above them is a pyramid-shaped meditation room – Pyramída srdca – with mats and a small library. For every band the terms and conditions add that “in exceptional cases” the fee may reach up to 100% – ask in advance what they mean by that.
Refusing to sign the declaration at check-in counts as a cancellation less than 24 h in advance (100%).
Early departure: possible at any time, but with no refund for unused nights.
Health restrictions
The website does not list contraindications; ask before booking.
If your mental or physical health deteriorates, the manager may end the retreat and enter the room; the unused part is not refunded.
Other conditions
Before entering the dark you must fill in and sign the “Declaration on starting a dark retreat” and a consent to the processing of personal data.
The manager may require personal details including your ID card number.
After arrival: getting acquainted over tea, a short questionnaire on meals, communication and ending the retreat, then a tour of the room and a briefing.
You switch off the light yourself whenever you see fit; the door is always unlocked and can only be locked from the inside.
The switches are placed at a height where you will not turn them on by accident, and LED indicator lights have been removed.
Bring comfortable and warm clothes; everything else is in the room.
Free parking in an unguarded area; the access road may be difficult for an ordinary car in winter, and they will help with transport.
Without a car: by bus or train to Stará Ľubovňa, where they will pick you up.
Any damage is added to the price.
Couples and sharing a room: The website does not say; ask before booking.
