Samadhi Centre Wiry

The Samadhi Meditation Centre is located in the village of Wiry (gmina Marcinowice) at the foot of the Ślęża massif in Lower Silesia, about 40 km south-west of Wrocław. It operates in a renovated windmill more than 150 years old, on a one-hectare meadow with old trees and views of Ślęża and the Giant Mountains (Karkonosze). Six separate blacked-out single rooms, each with its own bathroom, are set up for dark retreats; besides a soft bed, you can sit or lie in a hanging hammock. The space is free of alcohol, psychoactive substances and animal products, and the kitchen is vegan.

The centre is run by the married couple Jolanta and Dariusz Wesołowski. The Dark Retreat is a group course on fixed dates: 6 nights, 5 of them in the dark, with initial preparation, daily assistance from the guide and an integration day after returning to the light. The approach is spiritual and meditative (inspired by Tibetan Buddhism, shamanism and vipassana); the guide does not intervene in the experience or interpret it. It suits those who want a deeper spiritual or self-discovery experience in a small group; they do not recommend a longer stay for people with trauma, depression or mental illness.
